Animal Care Technician Team Lead
The Animal Care Technician Team Lead oversees and manages the Animal Care Technician team with the guidance of the Operations Manager and is responsible for day-to-day care and treatment of animals that are in the care of IndyHumane. This position leads staff in accordance with IndyHumane’s beliefs, policies, and mission statement; works with the public, fellow staff members, and volunteers in a professional manner; and possesses a technical aptitude in the following areas: disease recognition and prevention, behavioral recognition, problem-solving skills, kennel maintenance, safety knowledge, and hazard identification.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
- Oversees Animal Care Technician team, monitors kennels and all cleaning protocols, and ensures the team is fulfilling appropriate duties daily
- Spends large majority of work time caring for shelter animals
- Works closely and communicates frequently with the Operations Manager
- Works collaboratively with all departments regarding disease control, behavior, enrichment, and special placement
- Updates and implements cleaning and care protocols as directed by management
- Set assignments and duties for Animal Care Technician team
- Conducts rounds with Operations Manager to assess team, equipment, and level of cleanliness in each feline space
- Assists Behavior team with duties as needed
- Any other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess adequate oral communication, written communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to create a positive, professional work environment
- Possess working knowledge of chemicals and their applications and hazards and understand warning labels
- Detailed oriented
- Experience with humane animal handling
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Indiana driver’s license
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
